It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bernard Yelle of Welland, Ontario at the age of 81 on August 14TH 2026 at the Royal Rose Place.
Bernard is lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Irene Yelle (née Audet), his two daughters, Lorraine (TJ) and Linda. Cherished grandfather of Claudia and Davyn, whom he loved very much. He is survived by his mother-in-law Therese Audet, his sisters Gracieuse (Claude), Louise, sister-in-law Mimie (Yves), brother-in-law Denis Audet (Judy), sister-in-law Jackie Quinn (Brian) and his many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was predeceased by his beloved parents Jean Charles & Lucienne Yelle (née Bernard), his step father Justin Audet, and his siblings Aime, Jean-Guy, Paul-Emile, Michel Yves, Gisele, Flo, Huguette and Patricia.
Bernie was born in Rouyn, Quebec. He worked for several mines, then the Cotton Mill, and then GDX where he retired after 30 years of service.
Bernard loved the Montreal Canadians very faithfully until a few years ago, when unfortunately, his dementia had taken over. He also had a very fond love for dancing.
Bernard is deeply loved, remembered and greatly missed by his family, friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
I hope you’re dancing in heaven and free of any pain.
The family would like to thank the doctor and staff at the Royal Rose Place for their patience and kindness they have shown our family, as well as a special thank you to Roger from the Welland Funeral Home.
Visitation will take place at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE on Thursday August 27, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will take place the following day at St. Kevins Church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in honor of Bernie can be made to Bladder Cancer Canada or the Dementia Association of Niagara Region and are appreciated by the family.

Bernard laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée des 50 dernières années, Irene Yelle (née Audet), ainsi que ses deux filles, Lorraine (TJ) et Linda. Il était le grand-père adoré de Claudia et Davyn, qu’il aimait profondément.
Il laisse également dans le deuil sa belle-mère, Therese Audet; ses sœurs Gracieuse (Claude) et Louise; sa belle-sœur Mimie (Yves); son beau-frère Denis Audet (Judy); sa belle-sœur Jackie Quinn (Brian), ainsi que ses nombreux neveux et nièces.
Bernie fut précédé dans la mort par ses parents bien-aimés, Jean Charles et Lucienne Yelle (née Bernard), son beau-père Justin Audet, ainsi que par ses frères et sœurs Aime, Jean-Guy, Paul-Emile, Michel Yves, Gisele, Flo, Huguette et Patricia.
Bernard est né à Rouyn, au Québec. Il a travaillé dans plusieurs mines, puis à la Cotton Mill, avant de se joindre à GDX, où il a pris sa retraite après 30 années de service.
Bernard était un fervent partisan des Canadiens de Montréal, qu’il a fidèlement encouragés pendant de nombreuses années, jusqu’à ce que la démence prenne malheureusement le dessus au cours des dernières années. Il aimait également beaucoup danser, et la danse occupait une place toute spéciale dans son cœur.
Bernard était profondément aimé de sa famille et de ses amis. Il restera dans leurs cœurs et manquera énormément à tous ceux qui ont eu le bonheur de le connaître.
J’espère que tu danses au ciel, libre de toute douleur.
La famille tient à remercier sincèrement le médecin ainsi que tout le personnel du Royal Rose Place pour leur patience, leur compassion et la gentillesse dont ils ont fait preuve envers notre famille. Un merci tout particulier à Roger, de la Maison funéraire Welland, pour son soutien.
La famille invite parents et amis à venir rendre hommage à Bernard à la MAISON FUNÉRAIRE WELLAND, CENTRE DE CRÉMATION ET DE RÉCEPTION, située au 827, rue Main Est, à Welland, le jeudi 27 août 2026, de 14 h à 16 h et de 18 h à 20 h. Une cérémonie religieuse aura lieu le vendredi 28 août 2026 à 11 h à l’église St. Kevins. L’inhumation suivra au cimetière Holy Cross. En mémoire de Bernie, des dons peuvent être faits à la Dementia Association of Niagara Region.
