Deeply loved and cherished by her family, died peacefully at AB Smith Homestead House in Kingston, Ontario.
Evangeline May Smith was predeceased by her parents, John and Dorcas Martin (nee Scott); her husband of 20 years, Leslie Smith; and her sister, Clara Condon. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, John Caird (Kristine), Delbert Caird (Karyn), and Steve Caird (Angie), as well as by the true loves of her life—her six grandchildren: Shane (Micayla), Jason (Mikayla Larsen), Alison (Curtis Reilly), Evan (Montanna Parrell), Rachel (Harry Camargo), and Aleasha (Mitchell Roantree). Eva will be missed by her three great-grandchildren, Emilia, William and Rhett and by her sisters, Lois Boon, Earla Horton (Jerry), Iris Corkey, Muriel Martin, and Les’s son, Chris, and his family.
Eva was born and raised on the Martin family’s Shady Mile Farm in Holleford, Ontario, where she spent her younger days helping her father on the farm and caring for the family’s Clydesdale horses. Throughout her life, Eva found great joy in gardening, spending time outdoors, and fishing on Dog Lake with Les, where they enjoyed many summers together.
Eva’s life will be celebrated privately by family.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Palliative Medicine Outreach team from Kingston General Hospital for their compassionate in-home care, and to the wonderful staff at AB Smith Homestead House for the extraordinary care and kindness provided to Eva during her stay.
