It is with profound sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Archibald David “Archie” Roach on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the age of 77, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.
Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Archie was the beloved son of the late Wilfred and Christina Roach. Throughout his working years, he was employed as a miner, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and resilience. For more than 35 years, Archie called Dean Lake home, where he and Annette built a life on their farm.
Above all, Archie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared 38 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Annette, whose love and companionship meant the world to him.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Donna Doppler (Andrew), Derek Roach, Chris Roach (Tara Roberts), and Emily Roach. He was a proud grandfather to Christina, Caleb, Maddie, Liam, Jason, Jade, Morgan, James, and Courtney, and a cherished great-grandfather to Addison, Kleopatra, Brier, and Millie. Even the family’s beloved grand-kitty, Pepper, held a special place in his heart.
Archie was predeceased by his son, Jim Steele (Michelle), and his treasured grandchildren, Christina and Caleb.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Mary Taylor, Sara Roach, Wilfred Roach, Heather Currie (Herbert), and Donna Moffat (Lou), and was predeceased by his sister, Ann Roach.
Archie will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, unwavering work ethic, and deep appreciation for the simple things in life. Whether he was casting a line on the lake, tinkering in his garage, or spending time with those he loved, he found happiness in the outdoors and in the life he built. His gentle smile and steady presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Michael’s Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Archie.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Archie’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A celebration of Archie’s life will take place at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements have been finalized.
