Joyce Etta Redden

She was born on April 17, 1931, in Sarnia, Ontario, and was educated at Hamilton General Hospital in General Nursing (RN) 1953. She spent seven years supporting the Royal Canadian Reserve Air Force in Europe (France and Germany). Joyce returned to Canada to complete her BSc. Nursing, at the University of Western Ontario in 1964. Her career was spent mainly teaching student nurses at Sarnia General Hospital and Lambton College. Joyce enjoyed skiing and golfing. Survived by husband of 60 years Ernie Redden; children Mark (Keula), Matthew (Linda) and Marcia; and grandchildren Abby, Will, Alexander, and Justine. Predeceased by her parents, her brother Don, her sister Lois, and her granddaughter Aimee. Joyce’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Trillium Villa Nursing Home and Bluewater Health for their care and dedication. A private family interment was held in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at Smith Family Centre (in front of Smith Funeral Home), 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The family requests thoughtful donations be made in Joyce’s name to Community Living Sarnia (cheques only at the funeral home please).
