It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anneliese “Anne” Pohl, who passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Kelowna, B.C., at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family.

Anne was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada with her family as a young child. She grew up in the Edmonton area, where she married and started her own family before eventually making her home in Radium Hot Springs. There, she continued to raise her family while building and operating a motel in the popular tourist town, a venture that occupied her for many years.

In her later years, Anne found a wonderful community in Kelowna, where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also looked forward to spending her winters in Arizona, where she made many lasting friendships. For the last 20 years, Anne divided her time between these two retirement communities, embracing all that each had to offer. She especially loved the social side of life; golf, cards, darts, dinner parties, dances, and any other gathering where she could dress up, mingle, laugh, and enjoy the company of her many dear friends.

Whenever possible, Anne treasured time with her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening, baking, hosting family get-togethers, and making her home a warm and welcoming place for everyone. She also had a particular talent for decorating for every holiday, making sure her home was not only comfortable, but completely “decked out” for the occasion.  It was this particular talent that once inspired a family challenge to guess just how many Easter bunnies she had displayed throughout her home at Easter… the answer: 56!

Anne is survived by her daughter, Angie (Scott) Thielen; her son, Andrew (Shelley) Pohl; her daughter-in-law, Maria Pohl; and her grandchildren, Natalie Pohl, Ashley Pohl, Austin Thielen and Lauren Thielen.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years, Art Pohl. She later found companionship with her partner of 10 wonderful years, Ralph Stewart, who also predeceased her, as did her eldest son, Allan Pohl.

A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on August 15, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Balmoral Resort Community, 2365 Stillingfleet Road, Kelowna, B.C.
