Passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 surrounded by family, just shy of her 92nd birthday. A longtime resident of Island Grove, she moved there from Clarenville, Newfoundland, at the age of 16. She was predeceased by her husband, Doug, in 2016.  Joan was a proud mom to her four children: Kathy Payne -Mercer (Gord), Judy (Shelley), Heather, and Jeff (Lisa), and a loving Gramma to Ashley (Ryan), Laura, Brianne (Corey), Kieran (Line), Grace and Max. She was also a proud Great-Gramma to Walter, Charlie and Scott.

Over the years, she volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Women’s Institute, at many community events in Keswick and her new home in Port Perry.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Villa in Port Perry, Dr. Hadden and her palliative care nurse, April.

The family of Joan Payne will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Saturday, October 10th from 10 – 11 a.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Reception to follow.  If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque or online to the Canadian Cancer Society.  Memories, photos and condolences may be left at www.waggfuneralhome.com
