It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Goodwin on August 18, 2026, at the age of 77.
Born on Christmas Day in 1948, Bob was a devoted husband, dad, Gramps, uncle, brother and friend. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sandra Valerie Goodwin (née Sykes), and there is comfort in knowing that after their time apart, they are together once again.
Robert Grant Goodwin was the proud and loving father of Eric Goodwin (Jennifer), Laura Bowen (Liam) and Bobby Goodwin, and the much-loved Gramps of Jordyn and Georgia Goodwin and Caleb Bowen.
Above all else, Bob was a family man. His family meant everything to him, and those fortunate enough to be loved by Bob knew just how deeply he cared for them.
His devotion to his son Bobby was a true reflection of the man he was. Bob was incredibly selfless, dedicating so much of his life to caring for and supporting Bobby. He made sure Bobby always felt safe, loved and included—and, most importantly, he found a way to make him smile every single day. Their bond was incredibly special, filled with a love that words could never fully describe.
Bob had a great smile, a wonderful sense of humour and loved to laugh. He had a lifelong passion for music, hot rods, racing, hockey and football. Over the years, he owned several hot rods, and his love of cars and racing was simply part of who he was. Whether it was a great car, a good song, a race or a game, there was always something to talk about.
Perhaps one of the things his family and friends will remember most was something much simpler: Bob gave the absolute best hugs. The kind of hug that made you feel safe, loved and, for a little while, like everything was going to be okay.
He was funny, loyal, generous, loving and deeply dedicated to his family and friends. He leaves behind countless memories, stories and laughs that will be carried forward by all those who knew and loved him.
We will miss his humour, his hugs, his loyalty and, most of all, simply having him here.
He was deeply loved, and he will be forever missed.
One last cruise, Dad. One last look in the rearview mirror at a life well lived. Keep the music playing and the engine revving until we meet again.
