Passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.
Evelyn was born Florence Evelyn Benson on November 10, 1938, in Victoria, BC, to Frank and Elsie Benson. She spent her childhood in Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia, alongside her sister, Shirley.
On August 16, 1958, she married the love of her life, Terry Farina, who predeceased her. Together they built a loving family and raised three children: Richard (Rick), Teresa, and John.
Evelyn Florence Farina was a devoted wife and mother whose home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the wonderful aromas of her exceptional cooking and baking. She dedicated many years to serving her community through her work in the bakery departments at Woodward’s and later Safeway, where her talent and friendly nature were appreciated by coworkers and customers alike.
A passionate gardener, Evelyn found great joy in nurturing beautiful gardens at home in Harrison Hot Springs and sharing that love with others through the Chilliwack Garden Club. She also had a spirit of adventure and treasured her travels around the world, often sharing fond memories of her unforgettable African safaris and many other journeys. Closer to home, she enjoyed spending time with friends at Friendship House in Agassiz, where she participated in floor curling and embraced every opportunity to stay active and connected.
Evelyn’s vibrant spirit and active lifestyle were gradually stolen by Alzheimer’s disease, but it never diminished the love her family and friends held for her or the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She leaves to mourn her children, Rick, Teresa, and John (Rosemary); her beloved grandchildren, Mitchell, Janelle (José), Dylan (Meaghan), Jordan, and Brandon (Amie); and her treasured great-granddaughter, Florencia. She was predeceased by her husband, Terry Farina.
Evelyn will be remembered for her generous heart, adventurous spirit, unwavering love for her family, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and friendship.
She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always in our hearts. ❤️
