Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Owen Sound on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jane Dickie dedicated her life to helping others, including a 33-year career as a dental hygienist and leading efforts to support in-home care for people with ALS. Her love for serving others continued into retirement volunteering at Grey Bruce Hospice.
She was happiest surrounded by friends and family in the outdoors, swimming, skiing, hiking, and enjoying every sunset. Bringing people together was one of her superpowers, hosting large family gatherings, holiday meals, and countless “tea times” at her home with Mike. Her loving warmth, optimism, and enthusiasm for life were contagious and left an impression on everyone she met.
Above all else, Jane’s greatest source of pride was her family.
Beloved wife of Michael Dickie of 15 years. Loving mother of Craig Waites (Ashley), Brent Waites (Gabriella Tulipano), and Kara Waites (Drake Fox). She is lovingly remembered by Mike’s children, Craig (Anya Barkan), Colin and Brooke (Shaun Wizniak) and their families. Loved by her eight treasured grandchildren Lev, Max, Audrey, Brody, Nolan and Addilyn. Dear sister of Pam Devlin (Neil), Paula Bell, Susan Parker (Dave), Steve Harron (Paula), Jeff Harron (Leah Pountney), Marsha Wipp (Fred) and Maria Harron (Bob Walker) and sister-in-law of Maureen Beattie and Jeff Dickie (Janet). Jane will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Jane loved continuing the legacy of her parents, Budd and Marge Harron (nee Browne), at the shore.
A visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, June 26th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website for those unable to attend in person. All are invited to stay for a reception after.
