William H. “Bill” Dalton

Passed peacefully at Bear Creek Terrace on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the age of 95. Bill retired in 1990 from the Engineering Department at Sarnia City Hall. He was actively involved as the treasurer and manager of the Sarnia Municipal Employees Credit Union and the Lambton Credit Union Chapter. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church as well as the Knights of Columbus Council 1429 where he served as treasurer. Dad enjoyed golfing with friends from Sarnia and those at Baffy Woods in Florida. Dad loved playing euchre, cribbage and a bit of bridge; competitively teaching his family members the skills of the game. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Jane Dalton, his 4 siblings and parents. He was the proud father to his children Ronald (Linda) Dalton, Patricia (Maurice) Deschenes, Maureen (Al) Dalton, Derek (Donna) Dalton. He was the loving grandfather to Michael (Angela) Dalton, Meghan (Bryan) Dalton, Janine Deschenes, Danielle Deschenes, Renee (Matthew) Deschenes, Alyssa (Alex) Comrie, Catherine Dalton and Grace Dalton. He was a delighted great grandfather to 6 – Owen, Aiden, Reid, Cole, Wes and Harlow. He was an uncle to several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. John Butler, Fairwinds Lodge staff and Bear Creek Terrace staff for their unwavering support, kindness and compassion. Visitation at Smith Funeral Home – McKenzie Blundy Chapel, 431 Christina Street North, Sarnia, on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. followed by a private family interment at a later date. Donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, St. Joseph’s Hospice, or donation of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home, please). Arrangements have been entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
