Peacefully, with family by her side, in Stratford, Ontario, on May 18, 2026, in her 92nd year. In keeping with her wishes, Joan chose to end her journey on her own terms with the assistance of MAID, and her family honours her courage and dignity.

Beloved wife of the late George Connery (1990). Loving mother of David (Niamh) and Maureen (Greg). Grandmother of Kaleigh (Vik), Brittany, Ciara, and Shane (Alex). Dear sister of Jack (Dorothy). Predeceased by her sisters Lily, Betty, Joyce, and brother Ernie.

Joan Connery was the daughter of Henry French, a British Home Child, and Ruth Bloor. She grew up in Toronto’s Cabbagetown neighbourhood during the Second World War and went on to build a long and successful career in various financial, government and corporate offices in Toronto. She will be remembered for her love of nature, art, music, gardening, reading, and her creative spirit.

The family takes comfort in knowing that Joan and George are reunited.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.

If desired, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to CNIB or an animal charity of your choice. Condolences may be shared at www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com.
