Gordon Edward Brook

Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Gord was the beloved husband of Shelah Brook and a devoted father to Hailey, Ted, Dawson, Ian, and Olivia. He was a cherished grandfather to Christopher, Victoria, Charlotte, Rowan, Alice, and Willa, who brought him endless pride and joy.  He was a loving brother to Don, brother-in-law to John and Caroline, the son of Maxine and the late Raymond Brook, and the proud owner of his faithful Sheepadoodle, Dave, who was rarely far from his side.

Shortly after leaving Ottawa in 1985, Gord and Shelah made London their home, where they built a life together filled with family, friendship, and service. For 31 years, Gord proudly served the London Police Service with integrity, humility, and unwavering dedication. He was a founding member of the Emergency Response Unit and retired from the LPS in 2016 as a Detective Constable Specialist, having spent 16 years working in the Forensic Identification Section. Gord approached every challenge with quiet confidence, compassion, and professionalism. His calm presence, steady judgment, and commitment to helping others earned the respect of both his colleagues and the community he served.

Retirement gave Gord the opportunity to embrace the things he loved most. Gord explored the beauty of the Canadian Arctic, spending months each year in Inuit communities across Nunavut, including Sanikiluaq, Igloolik, Arviat, Rankin Inlet, and Taloyoak. Gord created lasting memories with Shelah and their children camping at the Pinery and across Ontario. He enjoyed working on his motorcycle (a converted ’79 Honda CX500), tackling handyman projects for friends and neighbours, cycling whenever he could, and sharing laughs over a game of cards. Perhaps his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Whether providing daycare, lending a helping hand, or simply being present, Gord treasured every moment with his family. He cherished the quiet mornings he shared with Shelah over a cup of coffee before each day began.

Gord will be remembered for his kindness, patience, gentle sense of humour, and willingness to help anyone in need. He was dependable, humble, and deeply devoted to those he loved. His greatest legacy is the example he set through a life of service, generosity, and unconditional love for his family.

Although his passing came suddenly, Gord was grateful to have enjoyed many happy and peaceful years surrounded by the people he loved most. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, former colleagues, and all whose lives were made better by knowing him.

A visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
