lg (20)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Bruce Bennett on June 10, 2026 at The Pines Long Term Care Home in Bracebridge. Born on September 4, 1937 in Perth Ontario. Son of late Joseph and Maude Bennett.

Prior to moving to Huntsville, Bruce drove truck for over 30 years. Upon moving, he helped countless friends build or fix cottages and homes. Bruce groomed all the trails for the hunters in the winter. He truly loved being outdoors! You could find him cutting down trees, piling wood, taking his four wheeler out for a spin or riding his snowmobile. Not to forget all the beautiful memories when family and friends would just hang out on the front porch and catch up. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and most of all his wonderful sense of humour!

Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joyce of 65 years. His sons Danny and Michael (deceased) and daughter Donna (Kenny), daughter-in-law Cindy, grandson Steven (Kim), granddaughter Stephanie, great- grandchildren, Teagan, Blaine and Cohen. Uncle to Rick Bennett, Paul (Roberta), Brian, Kerry and Dale (dec.), Garry Funston (Jean) Terry (Jill) and Rick (dec.), Jamie Ritchie (dec.) (Donna), Cheryl (Andy), Rob (Carole), Trina (Ian), Tina (Cory), Tony Collins, Michelle, Wayne McDonald (Theresa), Marvin (Shelley), Brian (Diane), Judy, Todd Ritchie (Sarah), Trevor, and Robyn (Quinn)

Predeceased by his siblings Ronald, Howard and Josephine, brother-in-law to John (Dorothy), Wayne (Dee), Gord and late sisters-in-law Eleanor (Neil), Julia (Bruce), and Glenna (Ross). Also, he was a great uncle/great great uncle to many more nieces and nephews. We are grateful for all the love and support of family members and friends during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 4, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Huntsville Branch 232, 21 Veterans Way.
