He was the beloved father of Cameron and Sydney Banton, cherished son of Francis and the late Judith Banton, and loving brother of Michael (Tammy) Banton. He was a proud longtime Union member with Teamsters Rail and a friend to so many whose lives were better for knowing him.
Greg Banton was the definition of a generous man, always willing to lend a hand wherever and whenever he could. Curious, kind, a great listener, and fiercely loyal, he made people feel heard, welcomed, and valued. His quiet presence and thoughtful nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He found joy in life’s simple moments — sipping coffee on the deck while listening to the birds and watching for deer, spending time out on the water in his kayak, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills every Sunday. Gregory also had a deep love of history and travel, always eager to learn something new or explore somewhere different.
Gregory will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of sharing in his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gregory’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
