It is with profound sadness that the family of Jack Armstrong announces his sudden passing on July 29, 2026, at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Kingston, Ontario, on June 17, 1953, Jack grew up in Selby and was the beloved son of Gertrude Armstrong (Robinson) and the late Clark Armstrong. He started his working career as a Painter and in Construction. After attending college he built a career as an Electronic Technician in Ottawa before moving to Eganville, where he ran his own house-painting business. Through his work and his warm, genuine nature, Jack touched the lives of many in his community.
Jack Edward Armstrong leaves behind his devoted wife, Linda (Mittag), and his two children, who were the pride of his life: Jeffrey (daughter-in-law Vivian Law) and Michelle (son-in-law Mark Keough). He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Sydney Armstrong and George Keough, and the family mourns that he was taken too soon to meet the newest baby Keough on the way.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and Larry Schruder; brother-in-law Melvin Mittag; and his niece and nephew, Courtney (Nevill) Carney and Tyler (Amanda) Schruder, along with their child, Chance. Jack was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otto and Rita Mittag.
Jack will be remembered for his unmistakable sense of humour, his meticulous craftsmanship, and his passion for creating beauty—whether through painting, woodworking, or music. A talented guitarist, he brought joy to fellow band members and audiences alike. Summers spent riding his Harley on local tours or casting a line while fishing were among his happiest moments.
Visitations will be held on Friday, August 7, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville.
