After a long and fulfilling life, Elsie Corrigan passed away peacefully but reluctantly on July 31st, 2026 at Vision Nursing Home. Predeceased by her devoted husband Wilfred (1984), Elsie was the much-loved mother of Maureen (Mike), Pam (Mike), and Doug (Patti), and the cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Colin), Kelly (Anthony), Catherine, Erin (Adam), Laurie (Bill), and David (Andrea). Elsie was also the cherished great grandmother of Julia, Benjamin, Jack, Tom, Conor, Bryson, Aubrey, Kylie, Alex, Charlotte, Ewan, Kate, and Charlie. Elsie came from Saskatchewan by herself as a young girl and built a life for herself in Sarnia. Energetic, independent and sociable Elsie worked hard both at home and at the Stock Brokerage. After she retired, Elsie enjoyed a second career as a volunteer. For over 30 years combined she generously donated her time to Meals on Wheels, The Inn of the Good Shepherd and The St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 60 years. An avid follower of federal, provincial and municipal politics, Elsie stayed up on current events until the very end. Elsie loved visits with her family and prided herself on keeping up with all of the events in their lives. She became Grandma Elsie to a wide circle of people connected to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren because of how important she was to them. In all of her endeavours, Elsie made generations of friends. She was fun loving and supportive of them and her life was enriched by those relationships. Family and friends will be received at SFH – McKenzie Blundy Chapel, 431 Christina Street North, Sarnia, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 390 Christina St N, Sarnia, on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia. Expressions of sympathy may be made through donations to St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank at 228 Davis Street, Sarnia (cheques only if donating at the funeral home, please).
