Passed away peacefully at Oak Ridges Hospice on August 1, 2026 at the age of 95. Loving wife to Glenn Smith (deceased) of 61 years and to the late Keith Howsam. Loving mother to Terry, Mark (Denna) and Scott. Grandmother to Jillian (Chris), Leslie (Chris), Whitney (Ryan), Devon (Michelle), Blake, Tonya and predeceased granddaughter Ashleigh. Great Grandmother to Evan, Dylan, Colton, Hudson, Nolan, Henry and Matthias. She will also be missed by her sisters Marina Palmer (deceased Robert) and Helen Lee (Claus Kruger), her great nephew Robert Drake (Kiyoko) and extended family and friends. Mary June is predeceased by her parents Vera and James Lee.

Mary June shared a lifelong passion for antiques with her mother, Vera, and her sisters, Marina and Helen. Together they treasured countless hours searching for unique finds and operating an antique booth, where Mary June was delighted in sharing her love of antiques with everyone she met.

She was deeply committed to her community and gave generously of her time. Mary June proudly served for many years as the President of the Oshawa Hospital Auxiliary and was very proud volunteering and purchasing items for the gift shop. Her dedication and compassion touched many lives. She also enjoyed travelling as a host for Claire Burt Travel and Kerr Bus Lines alongside her husband, Glenn. Together they travelled, creating treasured memories wherever they went.

Above all else, Mary June cherished her family. Holidays and family gatherings brought her the greatest joy. She loved baking cookies with her grandchildren, making her famous relish and pickles with her sons, and preparing baked goods, sandwiches and chili for events at Columbus Community United Church. These simple traditions created lasting memories for those she loved.

Mary June was a devoted life member of Columbus Community United Church and sang proudly in the church choir. She was happiest when surrounded by people, whether volunteering, lending a helping hand, enjoying a game of cards, or sharing happy hour with friends and neighbours. She loved being involved with her walking group for over 30 years. The friendships she gained meant the world to her.

Known affectionately as Mom, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and above all, a dear friend, Mary June leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, laughter, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband, Glenn, whom she missed dearly.
