Susan Gwendolyn Tasker

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Gwendolyn Tasker (née Blemings), beloved wife of the late Ross Tasker, devoted mother of Linda (Allen) Carson and Kenton (Carole Lee) Tasker, cherished grandmother of Brandon (Samantha) Tasker and Connor (Reza) Tasker, adored great-grandmother of Charlotte and Elliott, and a much-loved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Born in Melbourne, Quebec, Sue was the third of eight children and carried with her throughout life the values of family, hard work, compassion, and community. At the age of 18, she moved to Toronto, where she met Ross, the love of her life. Together they built a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, and lasting friendships. They raised their family in Streetsville and treasured many years at their beloved Point Clark cottage, creating countless memories with family and friends.

Sue enjoyed a distinguished 37-year career with BMO, where she was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and caring nature. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sue was deeply committed to serving others. Her extraordinary 47 years of volunteer work with the Canadian Cancer Society earned her a Civic Award of Recognition from the City of Mississauga and Mayor Hazel McCallion. She also devoted her time to numerous community organizations, including PROBUS, the Red Hat Society, and Streetsville United Church, where she built many meaningful friendships and touched countless lives.

A familiar and welcoming presence in Streetsville and at Vic Johnston Arena, Sue was her family’s biggest supporter. Whether cheering from the sidelines, volunteering in the community, or simply lending a helping hand, she gave generously of herself and was always there for those she loved.

Sue embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She loved music, dancing, social gatherings, and travelling, but nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her family. She took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and treasured every opportunity to bring everyone together. Her home was always open, her heart always full, and her laughter infectious.

Sue will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, generosity, resilience, and unwavering love for family and friends. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

While her passing leaves an immeasurable void in our lives, we find comfort in the many wonderful memories she created and the legacy of love, service, and community she leaves behind.
