Peacefully passed away with his family by his side at the FJ Davey Home on Thursday August 13, 2026, at the age of 86.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years Mary “Bunny”, and his daughter Tammy Grexton (Terry). There is comfort knowing Blake is reunited with his late son, Curtis (Susan Mabardi).

James Blake Granger was the first born to the late Jim and Annie Granger of Echo Bay. Survived by his brother Grant (late Fern) and sister-in-law Susan Kleiber (late Horst). Predeceased by his sister Gloria (late Bob) and brothers Rod and Bill. Cherished by his sister and brother-in-laws Pat (late Wayne), Pearl (late Derrick) and Gordon (late Wendy).

Blake will especially be remembered by his loving grandchildren Matthew (Maddie), David and Maggie, who will carry his memory in their hearts as well s his step-grandkids Sebastian and Lucas.

He was the proud uncle to his nieces and nephews, Lonny, Nichole, Chad, Doug, Ian, Craig, Jennifer, Shawna and Shane.

Blake was a hardworking man who often could be found in the garden and in the earlier years selling strawberries and corn alongside his mother. He enjoyed plowing snow for the neighbours and sharing his garden produce. Blake was happiest behind the wheel whether in the trucking department at Algoma Steel for 40 years, driving truck for other companies after retirement or jumping into his big cars and setting out to see the world. He also loved going out for breakfast, especially at the casino where he could stop in for a meal and try is luck at the slot machines before heading home. Blake will be fondly remembered for his hard work, generosity, love of driving and adventure, and most of all, for the many happy memories he created with his family, friends and community.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Blake’s life will be held at the Elks Lodge in Echo Bay (96 Church Street) on Thursday August 27, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
